The Chief Minister stated that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the dream of extending rail connectivity to the hills is becoming a reality. He emphasized that the completion of the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail line would not only enhance transportation for the residents of the state but also provide significant benefits to pilgrims and tourists visiting Badrinath and Kedarnath.
Officials of the rail project informed that the 125-kilometer-long Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail project includes the construction of 16 tunnels and 12 stations. The majority of the project is expected to be completed by December 2026. They also reported that the 6.3-kilometer escape tunnel from Bhattnagar, Gauchar, to Sewai achieved a breakthrough on December 25, while the 6.2-kilometer main tunnel is expected to achieve a breakthrough by March.
